Alderman and Alderman, PLLC was founded by Saul H. Alderman in 1922. Later, his sons,
Edward B. Alderman and Richard B. Alderman, joined their father's law firm and practiced law
with Saul until his death in 1985. Edward and Richard continued to practice law together until
the recent death of Edward in 2025. Richard B. Alderman has continued to provide clients the
legal services which had been previously provided by his father and brother.
Alderman and Alderman, PLLC concentrates primarily on the areas of matrimonial and family
law. We have helped thousands of individuals from upstate New York and from around the
world in matters involving divorce, property distribution, child support, spousal support, as well
as drafting of pre-nuptial agreements, post-nuptial agreements, separation agreements and
Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs). Additionally, we are prepared to assist clients
with estate planning such as Last Wills and Testaments and Powers of Attorney and residential
real estate purchases and sales. Richard is pre-eminent in his field, yet approachable, accessible

and by the judges before whom he appears. While litigation is sometimes inevitable, he is skilled

appraisers, evaluators, psychologists and medical professionals, in order to ensure that all

Following a divorce or other family law proceeding, Alderman and Alderman, PLLC is prepared
to enforce the terms of an order, judgment or agreement and is also experienced at successfully
modifying an order or judgment based upon changed circumstances or other factors. Alderman
and Alderman, PLLC is prepared to handle appeals before all New York appellate courts and for
decades has successfully prosecuted appeals for its clients, often involving cutting-edge
